Article ll was built by the Latoria family in 1973. When they could not sell the building the brothers decided to put in a 16 position pistol gun range.
In 1977 as the recession eased up, they were able to sell the other buildings they built in this complex and offered the building and business to Barry Soskin.
After some long discussions with his father Jerry, a partnership was formed between Sig Shore (of Shore Galleries).
The first thing they did was pick-up the range and move it back 5000 sq feet, making the small gun store now a 5500 sq showroom floor.
After a little more than a year Sig sold his half to Barry.
Another year went by and then Barry bought out Dupage Gun And Sport. Barry and Jim Pappas (Dupage owner) went into an agreement to build and then move to 421 East Irving Park Road Bensenville.
When the new building on Irving Park Road was completed, Jim worked out a deal and Barry bought him out.
After 30 years of business, a judge in Cook County court ruled that because of the O'hare Modernization Expansion Program. Gun World had 30 days to move.
2 years later Barry bought the building we are in now. It took over a year to build-out the building so a firearms range could be installed.
Article II has been in business in its current location since 2011, and had been family owned for over 40 years.
